Director of Faith Development

Congregational Administrator
Job Description:
This position is responsible for a broad variety of functions for the smooth operation of the congregation with guidance by the minister.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages office procedures
  • Manages facilities schedules
  • Handles purchasing
  • Handles incoming and outgoing communications.
  • Manages office and facilities support and upkeep
  •  Prepares & distributes weekly updates and communications
  •  Prepares, copies, and arranges for the weekly Order of Service & inserts.
  •  Distributes the electronic newsletter.
  •  Maintains the congregation’s calendar & report same as needed.
  •  Maintain the portions of the congregation’s website as related to above duties.
  •  Maintains the member/visitor database & report same as needed.
  •  Prepares items for the Events Board.
  •  Work with the Treasurer and Finance Chair, handling Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, & credit card processing and reporting to the Treasurer and Finance Chair.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess basic clerical skills (experience with MS Office applications required)
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment with the Minister, congregation members, other staff members, and outside vendors (i.e. copier repair vendor, etc.)
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be dependable and possess “attention to detail” abilities
  • Must be a highly organized self-starter who can work independently or with minimal guidance
  • Excellent time management skills required
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior administrative/clerical experience desired

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • A.A., or higher, in Business Administration, Accounting, or Related Field
  • Prior experience in an administrative, clerical, or secretarial setting preferred
  • Membership in Association of Unitarian Universalist Administrators (AUUA) (can be established after hiring)
  • Applicants will have to undergo a background check.

Hours: This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours/week. 

Reporting Structure:  The Office Administrator is hired by the Board of Trustees, and reports to and is supervised by the Minister.

Wages:   $15-16/hour
