THANK YOU!
To my
beloved (in every sense of the word) community:
Thank you
all so very much for the wonderful send off and welcome back last
Sunday. From one of my favorite quotes by Melodie Beattie, "Gratitude
unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and
more." It is with a very full heart that I return to membership!!!
Much love
to you all, Deb Giblin-Davis, Director of Religious Education

DIGNITY
DRIVE: Our YRUU group visited the Cooperative Feeding Program
several months ago -- and were surprised to learn that the program
provides clothing and grooming items as well as food to people in need.
We also were surprised to discover that the program desperately needed
men's underwear; so desperately that they were willing to take used
undergarments. As UUs, we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of
all people. We decided that having to wear cast-off underwear would be
hard on one's self-respect. So we are having a Dignity Drive, aimed at
collecting NEW underwear, shirts and socks for MEN (who are by far the
majority of those needing ongoing help). Dollar and discount stores are great
sources for inexpensive, new undergarments. We need: Tube or crew socks
in standard men's size; boxers or briefs, size 36 through 42, or Large
or ExtraLarge; and T-shirts size Large or ExtraLarge. Lightly used men's clothing -- pants,
shirts, Tshirts and shorts -- in all sizes also will be
collected. We will collect your donations after
service Sundays - May 11 and May 18.
We appreciate your support in helping
to fill this unmet need.
For more information, please contact Diane Lade
(YRUU@riverofgrass.org).
Thanks from your River of Grass teens.

Children’s
Summer Fellowship Fun!
If you’re like me, you run when someone at church approaches you with a
clipboard and a pencil in hand – but please don’t run! It’s probably
someone from the Religious Education Committee asking if you would
please volunteer this
summer to help supervise during our Children’s Fellowship Hour. It can
be a lot of fun - we have a great bunch of kids! Contact Paula
Rabinowitz at the congregation office (954-474-2007 or ReligiousEd@riverofgrass.org) - look for the
signup sheet at
service.

WE
RECYCLE ! You may bring ink cartridges, batteries, cell
phones, and small electronics to service (anything that fits into our
little Recycling Basket). Our Green Committee warriors will see that
the items get to a location for recycling.
Small appliances [Toasters, irons, fans, etc] can be discarded in the
trash - they have no hazardous materials. TVs, monitors, cell phones,
printers and iPods - anything that has a computer processing chip in it
are hazardous. They have lead, gold, mercury and other hazardous
materials. Home Depot will recycle power tools and rechargeble
batteries. Ikea recycles CFLs. Radio Shack will recyle batteries.
Larger objects need to be taken to one of the three Broward County
recycling centers, OR, take them the recycling event in Weston
May 18. They will take everything.
Special
Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Sunday, May 18, 8am to
3pm; in Weston at 2599 S Post Road at the Public Works
Complex. There is an easy drive through to drop off for
batteries, electronics, computers, printers, paint, and hazardous chemicals.

Education setting. If you are interested or have any questions please

Texting
Inspiration
– A lot of us are now
communicating
with text messages related to the humdrum of daily life – and as a
substitute
for more routine connection. But when you receive a message with a
little hope,
a little love, and a little joy in it, it can make you smile and make
your day.
If you would like a text a day that inspires you or invites you to
reflection,
then now is the time for you to sign up for this experiment. During the
month
of June, Rev. Naomi will send you a daily text for your spiritual
practice – if
you sign up by May 30 by texting Rev. Naomi at
954.249.6767.

Naomi: Minister@riverofgrass.org
or
